Better late than never, right? Major Ontario ski areas like Blue Mountain and Mt. St. Louis Moonstone are finally opening this weekend, as areas north of Toronto have been receiving heaps of snow all week. Most are opening in a limited capacity, though, with plans to open more lifts and runs as weather permits. In […]
Just came across the video below starring shred pro T.J. Schneider. Looks like they did a few days at Ontario ski resorts, which is pretty cool. Featured resorts are Blue Mountain, Mt. St. Louis Moonstone, and Dagmar. Watching this video makes we want to get better at park riding.
As mentioned yesterday, I headed to Mt. St. Louis Moonstone to get some turns in on limited terrain. Moonstone was operating six runs and three chairs, which didn’t sound bad but turned out to get boring fast. One of those runs was a bunny hill served by a creaky chair, and the others basically were […]
It’s been downright snowy and freezing here in Ontario for about a week or so. For many ski areas here, that’s more than plenty of time to make some snow, cut some runs and get the hills open in at least some sort of limited capacity. As a result, I’m sitting here at 6:30 in […]
I might have to hit this up: Mt. St. Louis Moonstone says they plan to open Saturday, courtesy of about 40cm of new snow since Sunday. No plans from Blue Mountain to open, so far as I can tell. WINTER IS HERE!
You might recall that last winter was the worst (read: warmest and least snowiest) the Toronto area had seen in years. Many resorts like Blue Mountain were forced to lay off their staff during the much-needed holiday season because, well, warm temperatures forced them all to stay closed. Blue mountain alone was forced to temporarily […]
According to Blue Mountain’s snow report, they received 50 centimetres of snow in the last 24 hours. Wow. They’re only half operational, though, thanks to lousy road conditions. Rare epic Ontario powder day: ruined! (Moonstone is reporting 60 centimetres, and appears to be entirely open. If you can ditch work, you might want to head […]
You may have heard that Ontario and pretty much anywhere east of here is getting completely smoked by a huge storm from the United States. Here in Toronto, the city was pretty much snowed in for the weekend, and we’re only digging out of it now. The storm has since moved into Quebec, and we’re […]
Today was a big day for me: I hit the slopes once again, a little more than eight months after having my ACL surgically reconstructed. It’s been a long eight months, with countless hours spent stretching, weightlifting, running and bending, both at physiotherapy and at home. So, needless to say, I was a little apprehensive […]
Tremblant is up and running, and apparently there’s snow all over the place; so says Tremblog, which is doing a fantastic job of covering the early days of the season up the 401 (and then some). In local news, Blue Mountain is in snowmaking mode, and so is Moonstone. Moonstone is tentatively planning to open […]
