Ski Resorts
Return to Whistler: 2010 Edition
Well, I just can’t seem to help myself. I’ve booked yet another trip to Whistler. This will make it the zillionth year in a row that I’ve decided to head to this world-class ski resort instead of somewhere else. Steve and I will be heading there in Mid-January.
I swear, this was going to be the year we went somewhere else. But in the end, Whistler won us over yet again for a few reasons:
- We’re lazy. We already know Whistler kicks ass. We know the mountains and the town pretty much like locals. So much, in fact, that we dole out advice to tourists in the town and in this blog alike (we get many inquiries based on our Whistler Guide, located here).
- The “no-one is coming due to the Olympics” marketing worked on us. Hopefully it wasn’t reverse psychology, and we don’t get tricked into standing in the longest lift lines of all time. (See more information on Whistler’s marketing campaign here.)
- We were running out of time. If we wanted to go on a snowboard trip in early January, we needed to book something lickety-split. Because we already knew Whistler, we knew exactly what to book.
Interestingly, this marks the first time I’ll stay somewhere I have stayed previously: the Tyndall Stone Lodge, in the marketplace area near the IGA supermarket. Great rooms, lots of space and close to the lifts.
I’m totally jazzed, but I swear one day I’ll head to Big White. Or Aspen. Or Utah. Or…
[Jealous] – my first & only trip to Whistler was a meteorological abortion: they hadn’t had any snow in two weeks…
Going to Park City this year, hoping for Whistler next year.
…and you’ll go next year, too. Poor, predicatable Adam.
Awesome news though, buddy.
