I recently sold my old Honda Civic and purchased a much larger Jeep Liberty Limited. My new car has a lot of bells and whistles that my old car did not. However the best selling point was how it suited my lifestyle.
One thing that snowboarding and biking have in common is that the equipment required takes up a lot of space. I decided to find something that could accommodate that better than a 2-door coupe.
I can’t wait to actually USE my new storage space. I will however miss the fuel economy; I have gone from a 4-cylinder 1.6 litre engine to a 6-cylinder 3.7 litre engine. Click here to see specs for my Liberty from internetautoguide.com. Hopefully having heated seats will make up for the increase in fuel expense. (gulp)
What car do you use to lug around your equipment and how well does it get the job done?
Cheers.
Yea, I had an 2 door Saturn a few years back, then an Intrepid which had good space, but not good for driving. I picked up a Subaru Impreza Outback at the end of March. Has the cross bars and heated seats too! Here’s a pic:

Huh, I find snowboarding takes like zero space.. I pick up my board and walk to the lift.. so simple and minimalist. Why are all the comments in )*&^R%^&E^%#W ??
Hey CP, When it was just my board it was no problem. But when there were two or more boards in my civic, it got complicated. We even had to remove bindings sometimes.
Well, why anyone would ever want to sell their Honda Civic is beyond me (I’m a proud owner, myself!) but back in Portland I’d typically take my mom’s Jeep to the mountain, which is a great car for holding all your gear (so, great choice!) She did just trade it in, though, for a Subaru Forrester, so I’m excited to see how this smaller, more fuel economic car holds up this winter!
Just picked up an 09′ Subaru Outback Sport. Insurance rose more than I expected, but the AWD is awesome. Can’t wait to test it next season. The cross bars and heated seats add to the fun, but now I just need a board rack and I’m set!
Yes, I put a pic of my car up

My new Jeep is seriously GUZZLING gas. I am thinking of selling this summer and getting a Subaru Outback or something similar. Nice Car, Pam!
Congratulations! That’s a hot choice
