Vancouver’s Olympic Village Meltdown

It appears there is quite a controversy brewing in Vancouver over the construction of an athlete’s village for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The Seattle Times provides a succinct overview of what is going down here. It would appear that current economic conditions have left the village’s developers, and the city, in a financial bind.

Here’s hoping they get things worked out.

Discussion

  1. I would imagine that they have to have an athletes village in place by a certain date or else the IOC will poop all over the Vancouver Olympics planning people. Not literally one hopes.

  2. I for one was hoping for a lot of pooping.

  3. There are a lot of people who are very, very angry about this.

It’s a shame really… mars the Olympics, which I’m incredibly excited about.

    Mismanagement, mismanagement, mismanagement!
