One of the things I like best about Burton is how they market themselves. They’ve positioned themselves as a premium, upscale brand, yet retain this “loosey goosey” feel to their marketing which that appeals to their target market and makes them downright hip. It seems to me they’ve scored another win with their new Burton Bus Trip series, which provides a cost-effective way for shredders to get to Hunter Mountain, a popular ski destination in the Catskills.
The details: buses run until March, picking up both in downtown and uptown New York City. The bus is $25, and lift tickets can be purchased at a discount for $25. So you get a whole road trip for $50. Burton, if you ever want to do this in Ontario, I’d be all over it.

I wonder what kinds of profit Burton can generate off of this venture. They might be happy breaking even or even taking a loss if it means promoting their brand and getting more people into snowboarding. Sounds like a good idea. Blue Mountain and other resorts should do this sort of thing to bring people in from nearby cities.
I’m sure they’re taking a loss but gaining the intangible goodwill of shredders aged 16-24 that probably can’t swing renting a car for a day.
What! That’s AMAZING.
What a great way to get people into snowboarding, especially for people who don’t have transportation. And what a great way to meet people.
DO THIS IN VANCOUVER!!!
