I just sold my Burton Shuan White snowboard on Craigslist. I got it for a great price and sold it at the same price. I can’t say I’ll miss it. It’s a good board, but not the right one for me (sounds like I’m breaking up with it). I’m glad it found a good home. That leaves me with three boards, although one of them is my very first one; a Limited Drifter board that is so basic I don’t even count it. So let’s say I have two boards left – my old Sims Nexus and my new Lib Tech TRS.
Adam makes fun of me. He says I am a princess and that I am picky. But he doesn’t understand because he is different. He has had the same board for years and doesn’t wax or sharpen it too often. I on the other hand am a gear head. I love tuning my own board and spending time getting everything dialed in. I like buying gear, trying it, and then deciding if I want to keep it or pass it along. I like the fact that I have had a few boards and pairs of boots and bindings because it has broadened my knowledge and experience with the equipment. Hmmm… maybe you’re jealous, Adam
.
One thing that selling my Burton board has taught me is that I have learned a fair bit about equipment in the past few years (and I’m looking forward to learning more). The poor guy that bought my board got more than he bargained for. I talked to him for about a half an hour and versed the new snowboarder on boots, bindings and boards. I think he appreciated the information.
I am now TOTALLY ready to ride. Are you? Any last pieces of equipment you would like to get your hands on for the upcoming season?
I’m onto boards 6 and 7 and my 5th set of bindings and managed to sell off everything I’ve previously owned. Just like yourself I’m all about fine tuning and I’m starting to really dial in my gear and figure out what I like and how I like it. Have you ridden the TRS yet? I’d like to get my hands on a reverse camber board just to see how they ride. I have a Bataleon and I definitely like the unique shape.
I haven’t tried the TRS yet, but if the little local hill by my place is open, I might stop over there on Friday evening. I’m really psyched to try it and my new Salomon bindings!
Im in dire need of some new bindings. My current Burton bindings, while only on their third season, have a broken off toe strap on the left foot. Not only that, but it cannot be replaced because of the way it was engineered. Ive been riding most of last season and now this season with just the upper binding strap. To tell the truth, it doesn’t seem to effect my riding too much, and it did earn me the nickname of Bootstrap Dan. Although, that also may not be a good thing….
I’m probably buying a new board this weekend. Trying to decide between K2 Zeppelin, K2 Believer or Arbor Element.
I’m on board number 1 and it recently got destroyed and fixed.
I REALLY want a new powder board like a Malolo or a Fish, but I think it’s going to have to wait, I just don’t have the funds right now.
Other than that I’m pretty happy with all my gear. I think I’ll do a “wardrobe” change up next year
Are you going to replace your board with anything or are you going to stick with your TRS?
All good choices Adam. If I recall correctly, the K2 Zepp is stiff and heavy – perfect for someone that likes to bomb the run on one edge
.
I haven’t even tried the TRS yet, but I def. hope to keep it for a long time.
Jealous? Me? Never!
Though sometimes I *do* think about replacing my Ride Catalyst, it’s more of an intro board, I think. But I never know what to replace it with for freeriding…
