MAbout this time we made mention of a couple of snowboard-related applications on Facebook. Since then, Facebook applications have obviously taken off in popularity, so we thought maybe it would be time to take another look.
Actually, that’s kind of a lie. I was spurred to do so courtesy of Austin from MyLocalMountain.com, who wrote in to point on a Facebook app he’s developed that connects “snowboarders and skiers based on their local ski resorts, giving them access to ski conditions, reviews, and a map to show off the resorts they’ve been to.” I installed it, and it’s pretty neat – it connects you with other locals, resort reviews, conditions and more. It also turns out that My Local Mountain is one of the most popular ski/snowboard applications on Facebook, especially when you remove any applications from the list that are strictly focused on resort conditions and maps. The downside? There’s less than 40 applications, it seems, dedicated to skiing and snowboarding – and most of them are dedicated to snow conditions or Flash-based games. Surely there’s room for some more innovation in this space. I can think of a few applications I would use:
Maybe these applications already exist? What do you folks use?
I don’t use facebook hardly at all and I don’t have an iPhone. Isn’t there a cool app for analogs like me?!
OnTheSnow.com has a great facebook app: http://apps.facebook.com/onthesnow/page ; Granted this is for *snow reports* – but you can visit OnTheSnow.com and read a ton of info on gear and deals. PLUS* OnTheSnow.com has a large community forum with blogs, rankings, and resort reviews.
There is also a dope OnTheSnow.com iphone app that was created by a third party:

I refuse to use any Facebook applications but if there was a really good snowboarding one I would.
Something that kept track of your days, snowbases at all your favourite mountains and maybe some key photos…
Vancity Allie:
I am using Snowago, which does all that… I actually heard about it here at Highly Obsessed last year! So Adam and team, props to you guys
I use My Local Mountain almost every day, it’s def the best ski/snowboard app out there. You can get snow reports for your favorite ski areas sent directly to your profile, which makes it so easy. And if there’s a resort you’re going to be visiting, you can see other people who are locals there and message them any questions you have about the rentals, conditions, the party atmosphere etc..
Try MLM out if you haven’t already!
Forgot put the MLM application link in my last comment so you can check it out!
