We were recently sent a pair of Coosh brand headphones to try out and review here on our site. I had the pleasure of being the ginuea pig.
At first I plugged them into my old iPod shuffle and it sounded terrible. After a few minutes of investigating I realised my iPod was a piece of trash. The earphones worked just fine. In fact, the sound quality was good when plugged into my computer or another working mp3 player. The music came through clearly and well balanced.
I was still able to hear some ambient noise from the room, but I think that’s a good thing. When I am biking, working, out, snowboarding or doing something active, I want to be able to hear things for my own safety. You still hear the music well, but there is room there to hear warnings of any impending doom.
Without a doubt the best feature of these headphones is the comfort factor. They are made of a super soft, non-slip silicone that holds to the skin firmly and comfortably. My ears hurt when I wear most earbud style headphones, but these have a wrap-around feature and a smaller bud that fits nicely. The only other headphones I have that offer me both comfort and sound quality are my old Philips headphones, so a good pair is hard to find. The volume control on the wire is a nice bonus feature.
All in all, these are excellent headphones for people that listen to tunes while they are active in sport or working out. At $19.99, the price is more than fair for the quality you get. The Coosh website is www.staysonfeelsgood.com.
I’m looking forward to using them on the hill sometime real soon.
Thanks for the review, I was boarding the other day with my white ipod headphones. Usually they don’t bother me but for some reason this season im not diggin’ them too much. I’ll look into the Coosh ones.
They sound comfortable!
What do you think of them compared to the Skullcandy headphones that seem to be popular for boarders?
I’ve had the Coosh headphones for awhile. They work awesome, if you guys are looking for more reviews on them check out

That’s where i first heard of them.
Glad the review helped you, Dan!
Adam gave me the skull candy headphones he reviewed a while back (you can search for that). I found that they are almost too good – they block out outside noise really well and I sort of like to be able to hear people talking to me when I am out on the mountain. In that regard, I prefer the Coosh for boarding.
Ah yeah, I know what you mean. It can get too anti-social when you can’t hear anything else.
For me, I always prefer no headphones because I love meeting new people
I pretty much only wear headphones when I am riding alone (which is rare) or with someone that goes at a very different pace than me. There are those times when I jsut want some tunes and have them on qiuet enough to still be able to have a conversation.
I find that earbuds tune out noise the most and should be avoided on the slopes. Headphones, on the other hand, still allow you to hear your surroundings, which is definitely important on the slopes. I usually wear a helmet with built-in headphones and I can still talk with my friends at the same time. That’s probably why you see more boarders rocking Skull Candy headphones rather than the ear buds. I’m also curious about the other brands out there, namely WeSC and Nixon
I’ve been looking for something comfortable, mostly for work. I rarely use headphones while boarding. I have a pair of Skull Candy’s I just bought and I’m getting rid of them, they hurt my head. I’ve got a pair of weSC in the mail. Anybody have anything on weSC??
I just snagged a pair of WESC ‘Oboe’ headphones from a Canadian electronics store called MOOG. They sound amazing! truly my favorite listening experience compared to ear-buds or even a stereo sound system. Thing is though, they pretty much drown out any other noise! I suppose you could turn the volume down to get a bit more aware of your surroundings… But as far as comfort goes, they are great, adjustable, and are nice and snug on your head so you could get away with wearing them over a hat without having to worry about them falling off. Also, they have a nylon cord, so that means less chance of breaking and no tangling. Recommended
