Snowboarding

Arbor and The Green Movement in Snowboarding

Many companies are doing it. They are following a massive trend of thinking in ways that are more environmentally friendly (or at least seem and sound more environmentally friendly).

But some companies have been doing this long before the fad of being green exploded. In the world of snowboarding manufacturing, Arbor Skate and Snowboards has had an environmentally friendly philosophy for over a decade now.

One of the company’s mottoes is “using environmentally friendly natural materials to improve performance since 1995″. Being green is not something that Arbor recently added to a new line or a few boards, but it is at the core of the company itself. Take a look at their profile here.

Salomon, Mervin, Burton and a slew of other companies are doing some really cool things in their manufacturing process to try and reduce theit environmental impact, and that is really great - But I have to give Arbor props for doing this all along. Also, I think their baords are killer and have the best graphics in the entire industry. That’s right… the best.

Discussion

  1. I’m really happy to see this kind of initiative start to become more mainstream.

You’re right about Arbor having done this before anyone else.

I looove Arbor boards. The gorgeous wood paneling on the top is so beautiful.

  2. Our friend Uncle Dave said the same thing about the wood panelling and I am hoping that he catches the boarding bug this season and eventually gets himself an Arbor board.

When I hear “wood panelling” I think of the walls in the basemant apartment I once lived in or those old station wagons from the 80′s… UGLY! But Arbor makes it work and all of thier boards have an understated yet powerful look to them.

  3. I love Arbor. I’m riding my Arbor Mystic for my second season now and I love my board. I also love knowing the level of awareness and care that went into it.
