My most spectacular crash was at Breckenridge coming down from the top of Peak 8. Just had a blast ripping down the wide open bowl and was feeling supremely confident. Just as we getting near the bottom I catch a glimpse of someone in my peripheral vision that appears to be skiing like a jackass and threatening to cut in front of me. I took a quick glance over to look, lost my concentration and the next thing I know, I sink my tips into the powder and it catapults me forward (minus my skis) down the slopes where I yard sale and face plant. Took me awhile to get all that snow off my hat and goggles and to shake off the dazed and confused look on my face.

Ouch. A lot of crashes happen when we try to do something different like hit a jump or a rail.
I remember trying to hit a huge jump once at Dagmar, a hill just northeast of Toronto... I flew about 15 feet into the air and landed right on my back. My head pounded for hours after that and I was skiddish about jumps for another few seasons.

at my local mountain right near the bottom of one of the chairs is a SWEET slope. Unfortunately if you hit it, you have to hike out so no one hits it. At the bottom is a 'road/path' that the occasional snowmobile or cat uses. The road is about 40 vertical from the lip and 60 feet out. I hit the lip a bit to fast and landed in the middle of the road.. immediately after the road is a wall of trees.. Lets just say i was aiming to land on the slope not the road. I landed on my board for 1 millisecond before my ass hit ground. My homies were yelling at me if I was okay but all I could do was raise my hand in a sort of 'i am alive' gesture.

It took 5-10 minutes before I could move and that was the end of the day for me.. and the last day i rode for like a month. It felt like I had compressed my spine an inch or so, but it didnt have any long lasting effects so I went back to riding.

good times.. havent hit that slope again since then, but this year i might just have to
