I have been wanting to post something about the Ride Contraband binding system for some time. I mentioned them in the Snowboard Binding Buyers Guide last month, and they seemed so far out, I had to investigate further.
For starters, you need to see these bindings and view the teaser that Ride has put together here.
These bindings definitely look very light and easy to use, but how do they perform? I really like the idea of saving time and effort in getting into my bindings, but not if it means sacrificing control while I shred.
There are not that many reviews out there because the product is so new, but most of what I have read is positive. You gain a lot in mobility but give up some support in the toe area. These bindings do not seem like they are for everyone, but rather for certain park riders that are looking for convenience and mobility. Apparently, the bindings are unique to adjust and it takes a while to get the hang of it.
They come in Black and Viper (neon green), three sizes, and retail for about $200 US. There is no women’s version at this time.
I would love to try these out sometime and see how they treat an all mountain rider like me. If any of you have tried them, feel free to comment.
