Cycling

Snowboarding, Cycling and the Fatigue Parallel

When it comes to snowboarding trips, I am not the life of the party. I’m usually the first one awake, grumpy that no-one else is; I sigh loudly while I wait for everyone to gear up, wanting to get on the hill as early as possible; and I usually don’t want to leave until ski patrol is dragging me off the hill.

Once we’re done, I’m always interested in some post-ride drinks to swap stories and relax. Then dinner follows. And then… fatigue sets in. By 9pm or so, I am exhausted, and looking to call it a night. Most of my traveling mates, who are on vacation and want to have a good time (and rightly so!) are talking about which bar or club to hit. I myself am generally not interested. All I want to do is sleep, having burned thousands of calories. And if I do fall asleep, I’ll sleep a good ten hours.

Having just awoken from a nap a few minutes ago, I can tell that cycling is going to have the same effect. After both my rides, I’ve felt the urgent need to go to sleep.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Red Bull? Bananas? Secret potions?

Discussion

  1. Your a man after my own heart right up until the 9pm go to bed bit! Thats the real making of a man! You need to fireup some shooters, some red bull something! And get the party started.

Only problem is I suspect you wont be first up in the morning and on the mountain all day!

Oh well you can’t have your cake and eat it I suppose!

    :)
