Eastern Snowboarding

Quick Update from Jay Peak

  • Number of trees hit today: 3
  • Number of times hit by other rider in my crew: 1
  • Number of times I smacked my head on the ice, thanking the Good Lord I had a helmet on: 1

I think I almost injured myself more today than I have all season. The reason? It’s very difficult to stay on groomed runs at Jay Peak. There are phenomenal glades everywhere, so we keep jumping off the runs and into the woods, where things become a little more difficult. Today, I was very glad to have a helmet.

Conditions are ice mixed with deep snow, depending on how it has been blown around. We’re starting to get a piece of that big northeast storm, and the forecast calls for freezing rain tonight, followed by a good deal of snow. Here’s hoping we get some snow!

Discussion

  1. Good timing… I just wrote a post about helmets yesterday! yep, they’re the way to go… Keep your noggin safe and watch out for the ice! :-) Have a fun rest of your trip.
