My Eleven Month-a-versary

Today is my eleven month-a-versary since having ACL reconstruction surgery. I haven’t spoke much about my ACL recovery recently because a) I didn’t want to bore everyone and b) frankly, there hasn’t been much to report since about the six-month mark. Months six through ten were pretty much about rehab and waiting; now that I’m [...]

Night Turns At Blue Mountain

Believe it or not, I’ve only been snowboarding one day in Ontario this year, and that was my first session. Tonight, it was back to the short, crowded hills of Ontario for another local day of riding. I headed to Blue Mountain mid-afternoon to get a bit of daytime riding in, followed by some nighttime [...]

Devastating Fire Destorys Duke’s Cycle

We haven’t covered cycling in quite some time, and this is a very sad note to return to the topic on, but here goes: Duke’s Cycle, an extremely well-known and popular cycle shop here in Toronto, burned to the ground in a devastating fire this week. Duke’s was ‘home base’ for a cycling club that [...]

Describe Skiing And Snowboarding in One Word, Win A Prize

Addictionary.org is running an interesting contest right now: come up with “a mighty catch-all that describes both skiing and snowboarding” and win a spring trip to Utah to ski/ride. That’s pretty awesome.
My suggestions:

 Snow sliding
 Extreme snow fun having
Mad pow mashing
Extreme Lift Line Waiting

… somehow, I don’t think I’m going to win.
Second prize is two lift tickets [...]

Skiresorts.com Sells for $850k

It’s not often that my day job (in the domain name world) and my favourite pastime (shredding mad pow, of course) intersect. Recently, however, they kind of did (on a subject matter basis, anyway) when skiresorts.com sold for $850,000 at a domain name auction. As anyone in the industry can tell you, domain name auctions [...]

Whistler Guide: Now Updated

Just updated the Whistler Guide after my most recent stay.

The Ski and Snowboard Helmet Debate Continues

Here’s why I wear a snowboarding helmet: I hit my head once a trip. Every single snowboarding trip I take includes an incident in some glades where I catch an edge, slam my head in the snow, and end up flat on my back emitting a sickly “unnnnghhhhh” noise. As a result, I wear a [...]

Shaun White Has a New Site

This actually may be old news, but it’s news to me.
In 2006, I wrote an open letter to Shaun White about the deplorable state of his website (it eventually became a surprisingly popular article). The gist of the letter was: dude, for a famous guy, your website sucks.
In recently visiting shaunwhite.com again, however, (this time [...]

Slow Posting: Out of Town Again

I’m out of town this week on business, so posting will be light!

Gotta Love Ontario

According to Blue Mountain’s snow report, they received 50 centimetres of snow in the last 24 hours. Wow.
They’re only half operational, though, thanks to lousy road conditions.
Rare epic Ontario powder day: ruined!
(Moonstone is reporting 60 centimetres, and appears to be entirely open. If you can ditch work, you might want to head there.)
