You may have heard that Ontario and pretty much anywhere east of here is getting completely smoked by a huge storm from the United States. Here in Toronto, the city was pretty much snowed in for the weekend, and we’re only digging out of it now. The storm has since moved into Quebec, and we’re dealing with the aftermath of 25-35 cm in less than a day, which doesn’t sound like much but is quite a bit for a big city.
This was the second time in three weeks I haven’t been able to ride due to inclement weather, something I’ve definitely never seen before. And it’s a far cry from the winter of last year, when the lack of snow was the big news story. With areas like Moonstone reporting 35cm of news now today, I don’t think Ontario resorts will be laying off staff during the holiday season like they were forced to do last year.
All of this makes me extremely excited for my Tremblant trip, which is this weekend. According to the Tremblant website:
“30-45cm of new snow! The best snow conditions ever seen in December! Don`t miss out, come ski the powder! The conditions are simply incredible!”
Woot! I can’t remember the last time we had a winter this snowy.
Wait, it’s not even winter yet.
Heading to Tremblant this weekend too. Completely stoked it will be my first outing this season and amazing conditions. I think this will be my first Tremblant december trip where I won’t be riding on mostly man-made.
Only half of the mountain was open last time I went. This weekend I should get to see the entire thing. Wheeeee.
You east types deserve some snow after last year’s disaster. Here in the Rockies conditions are okay but not spectacular. I’m envious.
Aha! But you have the vertical.
