Snowboarding Gift Guide
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Festivus or otherwise, chances are you’ll need to buy a gift for someone this season. And, if you’re reading this blog, chances are you’ll either be buying or wanting a snowboarding-related present.
Now, there are plenty of snowboard gear guides and reviews out there that can recommend boards and bindings until the cows come home. However, the fact of the matter is that new boards and bindings are expensive presents. So what if you want to drop less than a couple of hundred bucks?
Here’s ten presents you can buy that are generally unique, affordable and will make the recipient think you’re the coolest ever. If they don’t already think you’re the coolest ever for being a snowboarder, that is.
Note: We don’t necessarily endorse any of these shops; always do your homework (regarding reputation and purchase safety) before buying!
- Snow Bunny T-Shirts: Er, this one is specifically for the ladies: an affordable t-shirt with a cute little bunny and a snowflake. Who could resist?
- Tees and hoodies from Burton: They’re affordable. They look good. They’re from Burton. They’re for ladies and dudes. I find you generally can’t go wrong with Burton accessories.
- A subscription to Transworld Snowboarding: Only $16.97. Get nine issues of a totally awesome magazine, and a free hat!
- Buying for a board game fanatic? How about Snowboarding Monopoly, only $34.99. According to the site: “Buy, sell & trade the top 22 snowboarding destinations like Breckenridge, The Canyons and Okemos. An absolute “must-have” for the hard-core snowboarder!”
- Mark Franc Montoya Headphones: As seen on Highly Obsessed. Cost:$169. Unfortunately won’t ship until Christmas Day, as Skullcandy is currently out of stock. But what’s a few more days?
- Passes to your loved one’s favourtie resort always work well.
- A helmet cam: This is a little more expensive ($279) but will result in years of happiness, joy and shaky videos of gnar shredding.
- Burton wrist guards: Only $24.94. A small price to pay in order to save your wrists from breakage.
- For the backcountry rider, or just someone who’s out non-stop all day: how about a snowboarding backpack? Starting at less than 40 bucks over at usoutdoorstore.com.
- Ever get stuck mid-mountain, in need of an adjustment? How about a portable snowboarding tune-up kit, for only 20 bucks.
Any other suggestions? Let’s hear ‘em!
Other suggestions? These are more pricey, but in a way, the gift of safety is priceless!
Read “You Don’t Have to Hurt Yourself to Snowboard” at http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/secrets.htm
and consider the Flexmeter Wrist Guards, designed by a doctor and proven to reduce wrist injuries.
And Azzpadz. If you bruise your tailbone, you won’t sit comfortably for a month!!

This may seem a bit odd but it took me a while to find a face mask/balaclava that I would like. I think I have in the Outdoor Research WS Gorilla Balaclava. I just got it today and put it on. I’ll put it to the test next week when I go boarding. I write a slightly more detailed first impression here: http://www.thekunit.com/Blog/tabid/36/ctl/Edit_Entry/mid/371/Default.aspx
How about one of
these beauties?
Love the Snow Bunny suggestion - I have some of their goggles, good stuff made by and for women’s smaller faces! I created a little shopping list of suggested gifts for the girly girl snowboarders on your gift list as well…

An iPod shuffle is nice. The newer models are much smaller, can take a beating, and hold a decent amount of music. Great for listening to White Zombie as you fly down Peak to Creek!
Even if you already have a portable mp3 device, this is probably a better option. If you happen to lose or damage it on the hill, you aren’t out all that much.
Diesel’s Fuel for Life cologne and perfume smell awesome and for the holidays they come in really cool-looking chained bottles. Plus, they have these funky jean chains with portable vials on them. I think they’re pretty funky! Bought a couple for my friends for Christmas. http://www.diesel-fragrances.com/
All of the new Technine bindings are finally in stores, they had a dealy with their distribution this fall. These are a hot item now for sure.
