Blue Mountain Will Open This Weekend
Attention Ontario locals: Just got an e-mail from Blue Mountain stating it will open starting Friday. No word yet on what “open” means (one run? three? ten?).
Regardless, it’s a far cry from last year, when most resorts were still closed in January.
Weather is funny like that. I remember visiting Whistler in the middle of their worst winter in 25 years; that was 2005-2006, I believe. Everyone started talking about global warming, and how it was going to quickly kill the ski industry. So what happened? Well, 2006-2007 was one of the best seasons in history! And it looks like 2007-2008 is shaping up to be pretty good out there, too (although global warming should still be everyone’s concern).
UPDATE: Looks like two runs open so far. Moonstone is running two chairs, five runs.
