Tomorrow will mark eight months since the ACL reconstruction surgery, and the opportunities to snowboard in Ontario are becoming very real. I’m very tempted to get back to it; in fact, I scheduled the surgery in March 2007 on purpose so I could get back to riding as soon as possible. But I’m still a bit scared. I think it’s still a bit too early.
By the time the Tremblant trip rolls around, it will have been almost nine months. I’ve waited this long, so what’s another three weeks?
On the other hand, am I being too cautious? What’s three weeks, after all, in the grand scheme of things?
I’m still on the fence about when it’s time to return.
I’d probably try to get out on a local hill once before heading out to a trip. And then REALLY take it easy. Just so you get the feel for your board again. But then take it really easy and don’t push yourself too hard to risk injury before an actual trip. Injuries are just the worst.
strap up and jib your living room floor or something if you havent, just take it easy no matter how much u want to jump or slide, all the best to you
