When you have your torn ACL repaired, your recovery schedule is dictated largely by your surgeon. Some surgeons begin encouraging heavy exercise/activity/a return to ‘normalcy’ around eight months; others around 12 months. If my surgeon tells me not to ride again for 12 months, I’m out until February. And that would not be good at all.
When I see him again in September, I will make sure to ask him about this. ’cause September is the time to plan snowboarding trips!
I suppose I could just start riding again anyway, and would probably not encounter any problems; but as he’s said to me before, “this is the type of surgery you don’t want to have twice. The second time is much more difficult.” And the first wasn’t exactly a walk in the park.
Dude, that sucks in a big way. I hope that he is cool with you picking up the board and doing your thing.
