(Found via the
Barriere Star Journal): Soooo someone, somewhere once thought, “I wonder how we can combine snowboarding, mountain biking and hang gliding into one device? And thus ‘
hangboarding‘ was probably born. From what I can tell, riders are suspended atop a board equipped with handlebars and brakes, allowing riders to shoot down hills headfirst. Does it sound slightly dangerous? Yes. Does it look like fun? Hell yeah. The big question is: where can these be used? I imagine most ski hills have yet to see one.
Check out the demo video below. There’s also a flickr pool for hangboarding photos.
haha that looks fun enough to try, too complex to be adopted i think, that dude didnt look so great hitting that jump, i try not to absorb things with my torso/back
Hey, I’m with the HangBoard Snoflight folks. Thanks for mentioning us! I know it looks dangerous, but we’ve done 1500 runs so far, on all kinds of terrain, with no injuries. It’s a blast! Very different than snowboarding or skiing, so those green and blue runs are fun again. It’s a good upper body workout, too.
Sorry to hear about your ACL injury. We’ve had a few people demo with old injuries or other knee problems, and they say the HangBoard is really low stress on the knees.
That may be the whackest thing I’ve ever seen… And to think that they waste heli footage and powder on that? Wow!!! I’m speachless… I think I’d rather take up skiing.
