Want Snow? Make Your Own in Your Backyard
It’s a weekend blog entry extravaganza!
I found a great article via Clive Thompson’s blog (another Canadian connection; he’s a well-known tech writer on a wide variety of subjects). The article, titled Not Enough Snow For You? Talk to Your Father details how folks around the United States are building snow hills in their backyard (particularly in New Jersey, where there is apparently plenty of money and a shortage of snow).
Apparently, one person has gone so far as to build a 200-foot hill in their backyard. Insane!
The catalyst behind this trend is cheaper snowmaking technology. Recent advancements apparently now make it possible to own your own snowgun for less than a grand. Maybe it’s time to talk to my condo committee about installing a few…

i would like to see some backyard snowboard ‘park’ creations for some ideas, we have about 4 feet back there and i am dying to make something
