More on MRIs and Canadian Healthcare

Well, this isn’t really about snowboarding - but it does seem to be a
popular topic, judging by the comments. I always appreciate
feedback.
Here’s what’s new on the MRI front. Apologies to ski-blog.com,
where I already posted a comment strikingly similar to what follows. It
centered on what I’ve learned so far in this MRI Process.
For one, it turns [...]

Indoor Snowboarding Seems Fun.

It seems like there’s news about a new UK indoor snowboarding park
every day. From what I can gather, the hills seem somewhere in the
vicinity of 200 metres in length, and feature terrain parks as well.
They don’t look spectacular length-wise, but the ability to snowboard
whenever you like certainly seems cool. So does the ability to hit
rails [...]

Snowboarding and Squidoo

Squidoo is a community that features hand-built portals (known as lenses) built by the general public (referred to as “lensmasters”) on specific subjects. It’s a pretty neat place to visit and explore to learn all sorts of odd stuff you never knew people cared about. One of the “nine things you don’t know” listed on [...]

Among the Other Lucky Ones: Mammoth Mountain

Well, Mammoth Mountain will be open until July 4th thanks to a huge snow dump. They’ve already had 73 inches of snow in April alone!

That’s Some Powder Day

Just caught this video
over at 120 Days of Powder that really illustrates how different
snowboarding out west is than in Southern Ontario. I don’t think
Southern Ontario has had a powder day like that… ever.
It also reminded me of how bad I fared in powder compared to this dude.
By the end of this video, I would have [...]

Learning to Snowboard Sucks.

I came across a pretty accurate article
on what it’s like to learn the art of snowboarding. It reminded me of
my own experiences, and the sage advice I give everyone thinking of
picking it up:
“Snowboarding
totally kicks ass, and you’re going to love it. However, you need to
prepare to fall a whole hell of a lot the first [...]

You Gotta Be Kidding Me: Whistler to Build a New Lift

I got an email today from Whistler Blackcomb introducing the Piccolo Express, a new lift to be built in time for next year. And no, this is not the proposed new gondola that will connect Whistler and Blackcomb mountains; it’s a new lift, to be located between Flute Bowl and the Harmony Express chair, that [...]

Goodbye, Winter..

It seems like I was racing to Moonstone only yesterday to take
advantage of the three or four runs they had opened in November. Sadly,
that was months ago; Moonstone, Blue Mountain and most other resorts in
Ontario are now closed for the
season. Despite a mild March, it seems like business was brisk for most
of them throughout the [...]

And Now for Something Not So Funny…

I’ve been hounding the poor folks at North York General Hospital for two weeks to get a date for my MRI. After the third call in two weeks, I got the call I had been waiting for.
Previous to getting this call, I had thought a date for sometime in May or June would have been [...]
