Snowboarders everywhere are celebrating the iPod’s fifth birthday, which takes place Monday. If it wasn’t for the iPod, many riders would be stuck talking to strangers on lifts, chatting with friends on the slopes, and generally being slightly more social. Thanks to the magic of portable music technology, however, snowboarders no longer rely on friends for company.
Now that I’ve said that, of course, I’ll end up wrecking my Nano.
We ride with a guy that we almost stopped riding with because of his iPod. Finally one of us said something. He used to tune us out and then basically as soon as we got seperated, we could never find him.
I ride with mine occasionally. I rarely use the cell phone on days when I am skiing, but keep it on my.
Here is something to look into though–a camelback with storage pockets and a built in electronics spot for an iPod. I keep my cell in the shoulder holder of the camelback so I can hear it and also have a Motorola radio speaker/mic on my other shoulder strap. I usually only keep one earbud in so that I am still aware of everything else.
