It looks like my snowboarding trip out west is taking shape. January 14-21, inclusive, is the aim. All that’s left is booking time off work, booking a flight and booking a place to stay!
Okay, that’s not entirely true: I’m already sure of where we’re staying. (Hopefully everything else will fall in place, or I’ve got a problem…)
Last year, we booked a house in a popular neighbourhood named Alta Vista. Just north of Creekside, it was a phenomenal house with fantastic amenities and plenty of space. And the price was right, too.
Fast forward to this year: because we’re planning to go closer to peak season, it wasn’t easy to get the house. So we’re staying much closer to the main village this year. Specifically, we’re planning to stay in the north village, at a place called Glacier’s Reach.
The benefits are immediate. Glacier’s Reach is closer; no bus ride to the lifts this year. It also means no cabs home from the bar, either. And the price is right, too: a townhome in Glacier’s Reach costs approximately the same amount as the larger home we had last December in Alta Vista.
The only downside? Space. Last year we had space for 20 people if we really wanted to invite that many. This year we’ll be comfortable with four people, and can sleep six; any more than that will be too many.
