New Snowboard Canada Issue
While flipping through some magazines at our local grocery store recently, I stumbled across Snowboard Canada, a good-looking magazine about riding in Canada. Having never read the magazine before, and given I seem to become increasingly obsessed with snowboarding by the minute, I decided to pick it up. Overall, I was quite impressed. A few quick impressions:
- The magazine gets top marks for appearance; it looks damn good. It’s super-glossy, and the ads are top-notch. In fact, the magazine is all about the ads, really; if you’re not into looking at riders fly off cliffs and perform silly antics in front of a camera for marketing purposes, you won’t like Snowboard Canada.
- Unless you’re ‘in the know’ regarding popular Canadian and American snowboarders, many of the articles will be lost on you. Most of the content is profiles.
- The writing is solid and funny. Because of this, I found articles on people I didn’t know still entertaining enough to read.
Snowboard Canada really got me excited about the upcoming snowboarding season. Too bad the magazine only comes out four times a year. But with a subscription price of less than 20 dollars (CDN) a year, you can’t go wrong.
