How Is Ski Technology Helping Baby Boomers?

Several articles were published today trumpeting the fact that Colorado had a most excellent ski season this year. Great snow, a strong economy, and crappy conditions in Canada were all cited as reasons why the state set a record for most skier visits in one season. Interestingly, someone in the article points out that “The baby boom generation is staying with the sport because of improvements in ski technology.” Is the technology really the reason, or is the catalyst really the fact that more Boomers are becoming health-conscious, and therefore eating better and exercising more? I have a hard time believing that ski technology has progressed so far that it can extend the number of years Boomers spend on skis.

Am I missing something here?

The article also notes that the “echo boom generation” is really helping the sport now, too. I would imagine snowboarding is a big contributor. Way to go, snowboarding!
