Goddamn. I just discovered the Freebord, a nifty board that rides like a snowboard and comes complete with bindings. You can turn, ride switch and even slow down heelside like a snowboard. “Center wheels” in the middle of the board that rotate 360 degrees make most snowboarding moves possible. But the falls are much harder than snow, I would imagine!
The Freebord is priced at $199, though that is the “basic” setup; additional gear obviously costs more. I could definitely see this being something of interest to me, and would love to try it. One problem I can already forsee, however, is a lack of hills where I live. Toronto is not a “hilly” place; it’s pretty flat. The Freebord seems like an item that works best when riding downhill, much like a snowboard. So unless it’s designed to ride fairly smoothly and quickly on relatively flat roads, I could see the need for a lot of skating.
But if I lived in, say, San Francisco.. hoo boy.
Hey dude- if there aren’t hills in your area, u can tie a rope to your car and try towing. Feels like wakeboarding
Badass that u found the sport- it’s hella rad and worth every penny.
PS- That’s me doing a handslide in the pic you used
Really? Cool. Yeah, someone else mentioned a car to me and a not-so-smart light went on in my head!
Guess it would be the same as a snowmobile tow.
Awesome pic. Looks like sooooo much fun.
Thanks for the comment!
