I came across a couple of stories today that describe how Bolivia’s only ski resort is literally melting away. The only way to save the resort, it would seem, is by using artificial snow.
Keeping with the South American theme: I’ve actually started crunching
numbers and recruiting fellow travelers for a trip to the Andes this
summer to snowboard. Suddenly the concept of riding in the middle of
July seems to good to pass up. The price is right, too - you can fly to
Santiago, Chile from Toronto for less than $1300 return. And there
seems to be lots of all-inclusive packages at the resorts that are
fairly inexpensive. I’ve been gleaning a lot of this information from Snowventures.
The problem? A trip like this might wipe out a winter trip to Whistler. Hmmmm. Decisions, decisions…
(Also, if my MRI brings bad news I won’t be doing anything this summer. But I try not to think about that.)
