Canada Wins Bronze

Canada won a bronze in the women’s snowboard cross today!
Apparently it followed some pretty bizarre stuff from the Americans.
Go Canada!

Here I Come Whistler… Again

Thanks to the magic of Air Miles and family, I am heading back to Whistler on Wednesday!
My Air Miles account is allowing me to fly for free. My cousins, who live in Pemberton (just north of Whistler) and operate a kick-ass grill in Whistler, are once again providing accomodations (I would say one in every [...]

Growth Vs. Selling Out

Good article
in the Chicago Sun-Times about how American snowboarders are cleaning
up at this year’s Olympics, and what that means for a sport that is
widely regarded as a counterculture thing.

“The Snowiest Month in 25 Years.”

So wouldn’t you know it. I go to Whistler in December, it doesn’t snow.

Jay Peak and Even More Rain

Over the weekend I spent two nights and three days at Jay Peak,

time I’ve made this pilgrimage, namely for the two things that make Jay
famous: the most snow in the east and its extensive network of glade
runs.
Unfortunately, it really hasn’t snowed either [...]

The Headline Says it All

I’m out of town this week but I thought I would post this email headline I just got:
Whistler Breaks 25-year Monthly Snowfall Record with 469cm - 11cm of new snow overnight
OK, I’m going to cry now. Though it’s nice and warm here in California..
I’m back tomorrow morning (thank you, red-eye flight) and then on a [...]
