Against my better judgement I headed up to Horseshoe Resort once again
yesterday. I say “against my better judgement” because it only took one
trip up there to determine I wanted longer runs. But I scored a couple
of free passes from someone a couple of days ago, so I decided to head
up anyway.
One positive thing from heading up there was the sheer amount of snow.
I haven’t seen that much snow in Barrie in quite some time. Horseshoe
was reporting a base of around 78 cm and 15 cm of new snow when I got
up there; squalls throughout the day ensured there would be more by
Sunday.
By noon, we had pretty much covered all the lifts; a debate about
whether to head to Moonstone ensued. We decided to stick it out on a
few choice runs for the rest of the day, saving us a few bucks.
One upside was that it wasn’t crowded, so I gave the half-pipe a shot;
apparently I need to work on my “turning in the air” skills. That gives
me three objectives heading into next year:
* Turn in the air
* Master the indy grab
* Learn to fully ride switch
Whistler in three days! Woohoo!
