One of the gifts I recieved this year during the holiday season was a Sport Chek gift certificate. The purpose of the certificate was to help me buy a new snowboard. Needless to say, I was itching to lose the Mole snowboard I had learned to ride with for something more advanced; so, the day after Boxing Day, I headed downtown.
I had thought about a Burton board; however, after evaluating prices at a few different stores, I knew I was looking at a $400 plus tax situation; something I could simply not afford after the holidays. I saw a few K2 boards that looked okay, but the patterns and designs didn’t appeal much to me. As a result, I ultimately decided on the Ride Catalyst 05.
What do I know about Ride Snowboards? Not too much. I can’t even locate specs for the board on their site (though from what I can tell their Cue series seems very similar). But anything, at this point, was a step up from a learner board. So I’m excited to try it out.
I was actually going to give the board a try yesterday at Horseshoe, but it’s been raining for two days. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice; if there’s any snow left, we’ll head up.
