Fortress Mountain Is Back!

A few years ago I had the opportunity to stay at Fortress Mountain in
the Rockies (about an hour/hour and a half outside of Calgary). While I
didn’t get to ski or ride, I was impressed by the accomodations, staff
and general terrain. I always thought I would one day make it back to
Fortress for some riding, but was disappointed to learn the at the
resort closed last year.

Well, good news - Fortress is back! Opening day is set for December 9th. Head to the site and check it out. They’ve also got some forums that are worth keeping an eye on for up-to-date information on Fortress.

  1. Fortress Mountain re-openning was a disaster. After a month and a half of delays, the resort opened with only lift operating, giving access to two short and ungroomed black diamond trails. The rest of the mountain was in shambles. The accomodations you had enjoyed your last visit there are no longer available.
